Dear Hereford Alumni,
Welcome to the second edition of our
alumni e-newsletter. As was mentioned in last
month's newsletter, our intent is to keep you
informed regarding Hereford's alumni
community. We believe that people
from Hereford, and from the entire Texas Panhandle
for that matter, are a special breed of people. If you
have moved away
from that part of the state, then you have probably
come to the realization, as I have, that God didn't
create
every Texan equal! Those of us living in the state's
larger cities can attest to that.
While most us who were born
and raised in The Lone Star State are able to
live up to the state's reputation of being "so darn
friendly", there's just something extra
special about the friendly folks from Hereford. And
now that we've all graduated from high school and
have been scattered to the uttermost parts of the
earth, there comes a time when the best of the
best must come together to share and reflect,
laugh and reminisce on the "good old days" at
Hereford High School. It's the reason why the
Hereford High School Alumni Association was
founded in the first place. And it's the reason for the
association's main event - Hereford Alumni 2006
Multi-Class Reunion on July 14 & 15, 2006. The
all-school reunion will be in Grapevine, Texas at the
Hilton DFW Lakes Conference Center. Make plans to
attend today.
You will not want to miss the best reunion ever.
(From the Editor - Lee Mays, Class of 70, Founder of
Hereford High School Alumni Association).
| Dining At Austin Ranch Provides "A Taste of Texas" |
 |
The Hilton's Austin Ranch in Grapevine, Texas will be
the setting for opening night at the Hereford
Alumni 2006 Multi-Class Reunion on Friday, July 14,
2006. The festivities will begin at 7:00 that evening
with a buffet-style dinner and will last until 11:00
PM. Ranch hands will be serving up smoked brisket
and ham from a carving station served with barbecue
and honey mustard sauce, baked rolls, assorted
cheese display served with crackers. Also on the
menu: beef taquitos with smoked tomato salsa,
spring rolls with plum sauce, stuffed jalapenos with
cream cheese, and to top things off, dessert bars.
Iced tea and coffee will also be included with the
meal. Music entertainment will be provided by Dallas
Disc Jockeys who will be serving up the best in Oldies
music. With it's western theme, Austin Ranch
was founded by Dr. Frank Austin and his wife, Ruby
Austin in 1956 at the site where
the Hilton DFW Lakes now stands. Dr. Austin was a
descendant of the family of Texas "Hero" Stephen F.
Austin and the ranch carries his brand as their logo.
In the old days, it wasn't unusual to see a cougar
coming across the dam, 'coons and foxes running
around the lake, and hear coyotes howling at the
moon in the evening hours. Legends have it that
Bonnie and Clyde, the
infamous outlaws, used to hide from the law in the
woods. Since the retirement of Dr. and Mrs. Austin in
1964, the ranch has continued their established
traditions by entertaining thousands and providing
delicious Texas cuisine. To learn more about Austin
Ranch and it's history, click onto the link to this

| Class Mail Lists Still Needed For Reunion Mail Campaign |
 |
|
Last month we told you that we were
urgently seeking to get lists of physical and email
addresses from you and your classmates for our mail
campaign announcing the Hereford Alumni 2006 Multi-
Class Reunion. This month that has become even
more urgent. So far, we have
mailed out approximately 1,900 full-color, 5 1/2 inch
by 8 1/2 inch post cards. With less than five months
to go, we
would like to mail out more. As it now stands, we
have yet to get any type of list from the following
classes: Classes of 63, 64, 67, 75, 77, 78, 81, 83,
84 & 85. Some classes have provided us with partial
lists. Still other classes, such as Classes of 62, 65,
73, 76, 78, & 80, have had their representatives tell
us that their lists are enroute to us. If you
graduated from any of the above classes and know
that you can help then please contact us today.
You may not wish to attend the reunion yourself but
we are certain that someone from your class
will not want to miss out on this spectacular event.
Please send your list to: HHS Alumni Association,
1108 Oakridge Drive, Euless, Texas 76040. Phone
817-267-2608, Fax 817-868-0796. Email any
computer files to: info@herefordalumni.com. Our
website address is www.herefordalumni.com. Your
help will be greatly appreciated.

Mile Avenue in Hereford, Texas, has announced that
it will purchase one of the $400 "The Four Tops"

picture as to what's happening in their lives today.
Additionally, the book will contain numerous
advertisements from businesses and individuals,
better known as "sponsors", who are willing to
contribute to the reunion's cause by purchasing ads
to promote their businesses or communicate a

| Silent Auction To Be Held At 2006 Multi-Class Reunion |
 |
|
Do you own a business that offers a product or
service? If so, then you might be interested in the
silent auction to be held at the Hereford Alumni 2006
Multi-Class Reunion in Grapevine this summer. You
might wish to prepare and donate a gift basket
containing your company's products or offer a
gift card that can be redeemed at your place of
business. This would be an excellent way for you to
inform your former classmates about you and your
business
and advertise in general at the two-day event. Even
if you do not own a business you can donate a gift
basket, for example, to the silent auction. So if you
are a businessman, businesswoman, or an
individual who is interested in contributing to
this fund raising event, then please call Kima Marsh
Light (Class of 71) at 469-293-6355. Your
participation will be
greatly appreciated.

| Correction: No Longer In The Military, But Into Medicine As Hereford's Daniel Lemus Returns Home |
 |
|
In last month's newsletter we mistakenly had Daniel
Lemus (Class of 76) serving in the armed
services in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Although we were correct in stating that Daniel was
living in the Dominican Republic, we were incorrect
when we stated that he was in the military. The fact
of the matter is that Daniel Lemus was once a
sergeant in the United States Army and
Marines Reserves, but now can be called Dr.
Daniel Lemus, M.D. You see, Daniel has just
finished
medical school in the Dominican. In reference to the
all-school reunion in July, Dr. Lemus says, "lets make
this happen once and for all and let Hereford not
forget how great a people we are - yesterday, today,
and tomorrow". Daniel is the son of Modema and
Ygnacio Lemus of Hereford. Dr. Lemus has three
daughters in Hereford: Crystal (Class of
2001), Priscilla (Class of 2005), and
Dazzarei, a third grader at Aikman Elementary. A
proud grandfather, his two grandchildren are Anyssa
Cortez, age 5 and Jaiden Cortez, age 3. Daniel has
been home in Hereford since arriving in the states on
February 24th. He plans to return to the Dominican
Republic at the end of March to pursue a Master in
Public Health degree but says that he has "saved
the dates" for the mid-July reunion in Grapevine.
