Hello Hereford Alumni,
I must express the joy and satisfaction it has been
for me to see a great idea come to life. The
Hereford
Alumni 2006 Multi-Class Reunion held on Friday, July
14 and Saturday, July 15 in Grapevine, Texas was
everything I expected
and more. I expected to see classmates and
schoolmates get excited, show emotions, give great,
big bear hugs, and smiling faces after not seeing
each other for years and even decades.
I expected to see the wonderful fellowship of
Hereford's alumni community and the strength and
unity that
has been garnered by an
alumni web site and an all-school reunion take
shape. What I
didn't know would happen was how much a two-day
reunion in great places like the Austin Ranch, Bear
Creek Golf Club, and the Hilton DFW Lakes in
Grapevine would make a difference.
The emails of gratitude and phone call of thanks
have made their way into my office over the past
ten days and I am pleased. In my performing days
as a comedian, a singer, and even as a member of
the Whiteface Band, I have
received standing ovations before and have learned
to appreciate them. A standing ovation
is nice gesture from an audience and, as any
performer knows, is
not to be taken lightly. But I never expected to be
on the receiving end of two standing ovations
from our alumni audience on Saturday evening's "A
Night to Remember Banquet". I felt the love and
appreciation from the audience, which made the
many countless hours of hard work well worth it.
My only regret is that more of your were not able to
attend last weeks all-school reunion. A really good
event that touches lives and hearts of people only
comes around
every once in a great while. Yes, we will do it all
over again someday. And when we do, I sincerely
hope that you would be able to be a part of such a
moving and memorable event like those in
attendance in Grapevine recently had.

Multi-Class Reunion: A Resounding Success! |
|
|
|
Everyone has been, and is still talking about
the wonderful time had by all at the Hereford Alumni
2006 Multi-Class Reunion held on the weekend of July
14 and 15 in Grapevine, Texas.
The two-day event certainly lived up to it's billing -
promising to be the best event Hereford's alumni
community has ever experienced. Words of praise
have been flowing into the alumni
association's office in Euless, Texas since the reunion
in response to the excellent entertainment from the
singing groups,
the various activities, the hospitality, and the
outstanding organizing on the part of the reunion's
planning
committee. From the
complimentary massages in the reunion's hospitality
room to the young singing quartet, The McCampbell's
and their rendition of Hereford's Alma Mater
in four-part harmony on banquet
night, the two-day event will be a cherished memory
for everyone in
attendance.
The first evening's buffet dinner was at the Austin
Ranch in Grapevine, Texas. The western-style
banquet hall featured Texas cuisine and music
entertainment by Dallas Disc Jockeys who also
brought along Elvis (Larry Stilwell), and country
singer, Nancy Daniels. After about two hours into
the evening, several of Hereford's bold and
uninhibited alum made their way to the stage to sing
karaoke. The dance floor was busy throughout the
night at Austin Ranch.
The reunion's main ingredient, however, was the
reuniting of the many
classmates and schoolmates on both days of
the reunion. While most traditional class reunions
offer those in attendance the opportunity to see
classmates who graduated high school the same
year, this multi-class reunion gave us a chance to
see some of those who walked the halls of Hereford
High School who were one and two years older and
younger. One Friday evening there were
approximately 130 in attendance at Austin Ranch,
and on Saturday evening in the Hilton's Texas Grande
Hall there were approximately 175 in attendance.
