Dear Hereford Alumni,
Someone once said, "find a need and fill it". Over the
past six months I have found that there was a
profound need for classmates from my high school to
meet and stay in touch with each other - much more
often than what was occurring. Waiting to see
classmates every ten years for the scheduled class
reunions to roll around was just not enough for
some. And after our thirtieth class reunion, someone
decided that we should then meet every five years
from that point forward. Now there's a new
option. Say "hello" to the option of meeting with
fellow classmates as well as schoolmates and
have that meeting in a place and a setting that's
fun and exciting. This makes a good thing even
better! Multi-class reunions in major Texas cities like
Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston will
make each event a time of your life.
This monthly newsletter is merely a
springboard that arose from a unique idea
that has caught the imagination of our alumni from all
across Texas and the United States. We hope that
you will find these monthly newsletters informative
and that they accomplish their intended goal: to
keep you in touch with your fellow classmates and
schoolmates for years to come. (From the
editor, Lee
Mays, Founder
of Hereford High
School Alumni Association.)
| Entertainment Booked for Grapevine Event |
 |
The Hereford Alumni 2006 Multi-Class Reunion's
program and entertainment committee has recently
decided that Dallas Disc Jockeys will be providing
music entertainment on the first night of the reunion
to be held on Friday, July 14, 2006 in Grapevine,
Texas. The opening night will be at the Hilton's
Austin Ranch, which offers a country and western
theme banquet hall. Dallas Disc Jockeys has
developed a great reputation over the past 15 years
as one of the best entertainment companies when it
comes to disc jockey music and karaoke
entertainment. Their disc jockey will be spinning the
best of the Oldies as well as music from the
seventies, eighties, and nineties. Random Axis
Band will perform at "A Night To Remember" Banquet
at the Hilton DFW Lakes Conference Center in
Grapevine. The Hilton DFW Lakes has been
designated as the host hotel throughout the two-day
event. The banquet and dance will be on Saturday,
July 15. Established in 1989, Random Axis Band has
proven to be the most versatile ensemble in North
Texas. The eight member band features five
vocalists, both male and female, and the most
formidable rhythm section in the Dallas-Fort Worth
Metroplex. Program and entertainment committee
members are Lonny Coffee, Karren Kendrick Coffee,
Suzanne Smith Collier, Marsha Horton Smith, and Lee
Mays.

| From Sea To Shining Sea |

"If you build it they will come". That line was made
famous by the 1989 Kevin Costner film, Field Of
Dreams. And now that all the plans have
been made for the Hereford Alumni 2006 Multi-Class
Reunion, it's not a question of whether they will
come, but rather a question of just how
many. Judging from the reaction of our alumni
from across the country, the turn-out should be
good. We have heard from alumni from just about
every state in the union; from California to Florida
and from
Michigan to Alabama. We've even heard from one of
our fighting servicemen in Afghanistan, as well as
service men and women stationed in Germany.
Some of our alumni in the military are scheduled to
be released from active duty just in time for the
all-school reunion. One such serviceman is Daniel
Lemus of the Class of 76. Mr. Lemus is a career
soldier and has been stationed in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic for the past six years and is
scheduled to be honorably discharged in March
2006. Upon being notified of the reunion last
summer, Mr. Lemus has had the enthusiasm of a
Whiteface Booster Club member during Hereford's
football season. If fact, you can hear his "Go Herd"
excitement in his emails all the way from the
Dominican Republic as he reminiscences upon the
good
old days of glory at Hereford High School. We've
heard from Hereford alumni from as late as the Class
of 2000, to as early as the Class of 1946. It's truly
remarkable to
think that a such diverse group of people from
different generations and scattered all over
the globe, can now come together to form a family-
like bond.

| Mail Campaign To Begin On February 6, 2006 |
 |
|
A gigantic bulk mail campaign announcing the
Hereford Alumni 2006 Multi-Class Reunion - by way
of "snail mail", will begin on Monday, February 6,
2006. The mail-out will be of a 5 1/2 inch by 8 1/2
inch full-color post card and will be sent to every
alumni's physical address made available to the
alumni association. This is a very important
endeavor because the association does not have
email addresses for each and every alum.
Therefore,
contacting them through the postal service might be
the only way to inform them of the reunion next
summer. Class organizers are
urgently asked to forward any
physical addresses for classmates they might
have to the Hereford High School Alumni
Association's office at: 1108 Oakridge Drive, Euless,
Texas 76040, or email them to
info@herefordalumni.com. The office fax number is
817-868-0796.

| RealNet's Lonny Coffey Nabs Top Sponsorship |
 |
Hereford High School alumnus Lonny Coffey (Class
of 70),
owner of the Arlington, Texas based branch of
RealNet Mortgage Corporation, recently purchased
the reunion's top sponsorship: the $500 "Tower Of
Power"
Memory Book ad for the Hereford Alumni 2006 Multi-
Class Reunion. The Memory Book or "bio
book" will offer photographs, both old and new
of each alumni, and will include captions about their
lives since graduating high school. It will also include
an update on each alum and their families, offering
us a general picture as to what's happening in their
lives today. Additionally, the book will contain
numerous advertisements from businesses and
individuals, better known as "sponsors", who are
willing to contribute to the reunion's cause by
purchasing ads to promote their businesses or
communicate a message. Mr. Coffey has been in the
mortgage banking industry since graduating in 1974
with a degree in Finance from West Texas State
University. RealNet Mortgage operates in 38 states
and handles all types of home loans including FHA,
VA, and Conventional. For the potential
homeowner with less-than-perfect credit, they offer
Sub-Prime lending as well. The newly-opened
RealNet Mortgage branch in Arlington will be family
operated with Lonny's wife, Karren Kendrick Coffey,
also an alum of Hereford (Class of 71),
spearheading the company's marketing
department.
The Coffey's daughter, Michelle Wolf, will join the
company as a loan processor and son Micah Coffey,
who is already in the industry as a loan officer, will
soon follow. In a world of "predatory lending", Lonny
founded GiantLion in 1998. "I wanted to be able to
educate the consumer and real estate professionals
to the reality of the predatory lender", says Mr.
Coffey. The web address for the company can be
located at www.GiantLion.com. One of the most
notable accomplishments is that Lonny is a published
author and co-wrote "How To Buy And Sell Your
Home Without Getting Ripped Off". The
book was named to the Top Ten Real Estates Books
in 2000 by Bob Bruss of the Los Angeles Times and is
available at all Barnes and Noble Booksellers. Lonny's
book can also be ordered online through
Amazon.com which we've linked on the "Quick Links"
section of this current issue.

All-School Reunion Plans Finalized |
|
|
|
The stage has been set for one the most exciting
and spectacular events for residents and former
residents from the Panhandle town of Hereford,
Texas. What makes this event so unusual is that it
will not take place in Hereford but in
the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The event is the
Hereford Alumni 2006 Multi-Class Reunion. The
reunion will be held at the Hilton DFW Lakes
Conference Center in Grapevine, Texas. The dates
are Friday July 14, and Saturday July 15,
2006. What started as a reunion for classmates and
schoolmates spanning over a period of twenty years
has since expanded into an "all-school" event.
Planning for
the multi-class reunion began on October 22, 2005.
That was the day that a group of Hereford alum,
mostly from the Dallas-Fort Worth area but included
others from as far away as Odessa and Hereford,
came together in Euless, Texas for the inaugural
planning meeting. Since that time, the planning
committee has put together a two-day event that is
sure to become a memorable experience for all who
attend.
