A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

After having missed three out of four class reunions because I was either not notified or once I was notified it was too late to book a flight, I became completely devastated. Living in the DFW area I have found that it’s not always convenient to book a round-trip flight from Dallas to Amarillo due to the larger airport’s limited flight schedule to smaller cities. This is especially true when you’ve got short notice. After missing my third class reunion, my heart ached to the point that the only consolation available to me was to log onto Hereford Independent School District’s web site and write and call classmates just to say “hello”. Just writing to say how much I missed not being at the last reunion on July 29 & 30, 2005 made me feel better. But in the process, the idea to bring a reunion to the big city was born. After all, with so many HHS alumni having migrated south to the state’s larger cities, why not have the Spirit of Hereford High gather in a nice and exciting city like Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, or Houston? And why should it be just for my graduating class? Why not make such a reunion a “multi-class” event? So I sprung into action and today I’m happy to say that it’s a reality! So stay tuned as we keep you informed over the coming months. I look forward to seeing you in the Dallas-Fort Worth area next summer!

Sincerely yours,
Lee (Percy) Mays - Class of '70

WHAT WE DO…

Our mission is to bring together Hereford High School alumni from different graduating classes spanning over a period of 50 years or more for “multi-class reunions”. These reunions are to be held in the state’s major convention destinations such as Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston.

We believe that such a reunion, if promoted adequately, will attract a large number of alumni due to the fact that these destinations have large regional and international airports. This special feature makes booking airline flights a breeze by offering more flights, thus making it easier for more alumni to attend such a gathering.

In addition, the close proximity of these international airports to major hotels, conference centers, entertainment venues, etc., makes a class reunion fun, exciting, and memorable.

WHY WE DO IT…

In certain cases, some alumni were not able to attend their 10th, 20th, or 30th year class reunions due to the fact that they were either not found or were not notified in time to make adequate arrangements to attend.

By doing extensive searches with the help of a network of dedicated staff, finding every known person months in advance of the event ensures that more alumni will be in attendance.

WHAT WE DON’T DO…

The multi-class reunion concept is not designed to replace or conflict with the conventional class reunions held each year for respective classes in Hereford, Texas. One should never miss out on the nostalgia of being in Hereford with old friends.

But the multi-class reunion offers our alumni from all across the United States an opportunity to see old classmates without the five or ten year wait, spend time with siblings who graduated before and/or after they did, and meet other HHS grads they might never have known.

MAKING THE CONNECTION…

Why should we wait another five or ten years to see each other?

We’re not getting any younger, that’s for sure! And over the next ten years or so, some of us will no longer be around - that’s just a fact of life.

So why not come together for a multi-class reunion and celebrate the town, the school, and the special people we love.
